Jakub Marek Karnowski is a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics and holds an MBA (Master of Business Administration) from the Carlson School of Management and the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs at the University of Minnesota (USA).
From 1997 to 2000, he served as an advisor and chief of the political cabinet of the Minister of Finance of Poland. Then he became an advisor and director of the International Department at the National Bank of Poland. In 2003-2008, Jakub was a member of the Executive Directors’ Board at the World Bank group. He led the management of the investment fund PKO TFI S.A. (2008-2012), the Polish state railways PKP Polskie Koleje Państwowe S.A. (2012-2015), and the private investment group Luma Investment S.A. (2016-2019). He was an independent member of the supervisory board and a chairman of the audit and risk committee at HSBC Bank Polska from 2015 to 2019.
Jakub Karnowski also worked as a researcher and academic teacher at the Warsaw School of Economics. He is a scholarship holder of the Margaret Thatcher Foundation. He holds a diploma as a licensed financial advisor CFA. He has a doctorate in economics, was the head of the Department of Liberal Economics at the Warsaw School of Economics, and supervised a student scientific circle focused on the reconstruction of Ukraine.
Jakub Karnowski was the chairman of the Supervisory Board of JSC Ukrposhta and an independent member of the Supervisory Board of JSC Ukrzaliznycja. On July 19th 2024, he was elected by the Supervisory Board of JSC KredoBank to the position of First Vice President of the Management Board and assumed this position on August 19th. He was elected by the Supervisory Board of KredoBank to the position of Chairman of the Management Board on February 21th 2025, based on the approval of the National Bank of Ukraine obtained on February 20th. He hold this position from March 1st, 2025.
